International Singing Contest scen@niemena

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The International Singing Contest scen@niemena is a part of the 7th  Niemen Non Stop Young Talents Festival.
  2. The Contest is open to all young students between 15-28 years of age, from Poland or abroad.
  3. Participants of the Contest may be soloists or groups ? both vocal and vocal-instrumental.  The Grand Prix laureates of the previous Contest editions are excluded from participation.
  4. The entries must consist of compositions created by Czesław Niemen and/or pieces created by other authors but included in the Czesław Niemen repertoire.
  5. Each participant must submit 3 songs  from the Czesław Niemen repertoire (length of each song must not exceed 5 min.) in a  language of choice. The songs will then be evaluated by the Qualifying Committee. NOTE: Songs chosen from the list provided by the Organizer will be awarded additional points by both the Qualifying Committee and the Jury during the Contest.  
  6. In the additional OPEN category there is a possibility to present original songs written by the participants, i.e. each participant may perfom one of his or her own creations in a language of choice (songs by more than one author are also permitted).
  7. The submitted songs must be recorded on a CD. The entries must include a completed entry form with a photo as well as a clearly described CD containing the submitted songs. The soloists must additionally submit the songs' sheet music  (keyboard instruments, bass guitar, drums). The cut-off date  for entry submission is 10 Sep 2012  (date of postmark).Send your entries to: Młodzieżowe Centrum Kultury, al. 3 Maja 22, 76-200 Słupsk, POLAND, with the annotation: 'NIEMEN NON STOP' or e-mail to: . NOTE: Participants must confirm their submissions by phone  by the cut-off date (+48 59 843 11 30).
  8. The Qualifying Committee will select participants (both soloists and bands) to perform during the 7th  Niemen Non Stop Young Talents Festival. The participants will be notified of the decision by                20 Sep 2012 , by phone or e-mail.
  9. During the 1 st  day  of the Festival the selected participants will perform (accompanied by a professional instrumental band):
    • one song from the Czesław Niemen repertoire chosen by the Qualifying Committee (the main criterion of the song's choice, enabling the contestant to remain in the competition, is the novelty of its interpretation),
    • optionally: one song in the OPEN category (if accepted by the Qualifying Committee).
    • The performance will be evaluated by a Jury of prominent Polish musicians and music journalists. The Jury will select 'The Golden Ten'  ? 10 contestants to perform during the 2 nd  day  of the Festival (the second song from the Czesław Niemen repertoire chosen by the Qualifying Committee).
    • NOTE! Songs chosen from the List of Recommended Works will be awarded three additional points by the Jury.
  10. The rehearsals are scheduled for 3 and 4 Oct 2012 (Młodzieżowe Centrum Kultury in Słupsk) and for 5 and 6 Oct 2012 ( Polska Filharmonia Sinfonia Baltica).
  11. The organizers do not provide transportation or accommodation for the contestants. There is a possibility to arrange for accommodation booking by the organizers. 

NOTE:  The participants submitting their entry must accept these rules and regulations as well as the Organizer's rights to unlimited use of the submitted materials and of audio/video recordings of all the participants' performances.

OPEN category prize: 1000 PLN

Audience Award :  1000 PLN

A recording session at the Concerts and Recordings Studio named after Czesław Niemen ? founded by Radio Koszalin
